Ready, set---almost time to go!

Time is passing quickly as I prepare to leave for California.  Packing for 5 1/2 weeks isn't easy---lots to think about...

Here is a photo of my start on Twirly Whirly---taking this with me to California to work while I am on grandma duty.

this is a picture of some of the wools that I used---a few of them did not work as well as I thought so I did make a substitution.

Well my grandson is now due in 2 1/2 weeks---getting excited to welcome him into the world.

Some of you may remember me hooking a portrait of my mother with the paisley background---when I was looking through some pictures a month ago I cam across this one that I didn't remember---my mother and her sister Mildred---and a very cute dog---never knew about the dog.

Twirly Whirly

Twirly Whirly is the new pattern that I have chosen to start with.  Here is what it looks like---so excited to start it.

It is the smallest of the patterns I got---plan to hook it in #8-8.5 cut for the most part---oranges and brown and paisley of course.  Hope to get a start before leaving for California but will have to wait and see---busy week next week!

Here are some wools that I am thinking about using.

I am looking forward to my trip to California to teach in Cambria and to be there for the birth of my first grandson---my first grandchild due June 17th.

Well this is going to be a very short post---much to do!

A new footstool and other ramblings

About 2 weeks ago I went to a garage sale and bought an ugly duckling footstool---I should have taken a picture but I will say it had a ugly velvet print cover with really awful fringe---after stripping it off I discovered it was stuffed with excelsior and shredded paper.  I made a very simple pattern---basically I drew the outside dimensions that I needed and working on a blank canvas opting for straight line center with a border for the edge.  Using left overs from Petals and Posies I created this fun little footstool that I love---sometimes simple is the most charming!

Busy weekend here at our house.  Saturday night we are are hosting our Wine Tasting group ---wines from Spain and Portugal wines---and Sunday my daughter Sarah and her husband Philip are coming for brunch with his parents.

I am getting excited about hooking a new pattern---I was looking through an old catalog  (1971) of Pearl McGown's patterns when they were owned by Sturbridge and saw three patterns that I have not seen around---fortunately Moshimer (Cushing) had a lot of the old patterns and is printing them on linen for me.

I will reveal which one I plan to start next week---will plan to take it to California with me to work on while I am there.  One is called Twirly Whirly, one is called Tinker Scroll and the last is Nantucket Scrolling.  Hmmm---which one will it be???
