Happy Holidays

I am catching up on some recents events---the first pictures are from my Holiday Christmas party for my students.  We had a great time---hard for me to believe that it was my 17th annual party.

Here is the project I designed for the students this year---they each received the kit to make it.

Here are some of the rugs from the rug show.

This is our State Line Rug Hooker's guild Philanthropy rug hooked this year---we are selling raffle tickets and the winner will be drawn at the February Hook-in.  I tried to download the ticket info but couldn't get it so will post it later when the rug is finished.  It is a gorgeous rug.

thanks Linda for hosting the party!

We had our first measurable snowfall yesterday---fun shoveling the driveway!

this month has gone too fast!

I took a few pictures this morning of my house decorations.

The christmas tree---what!  No presents---Santa is running late!

Petals and Posies

Yesterday I finally felt well enough to get back to my rug---one thing about not feeling well is that it kept me at home.   This sinus infection has kicked my butt!  So I have finished hooking the rug and am ready to steam and finish the rug---hoping to have it done for the Christmas Party for my students on Wednesday and hoping I am totally well by then.  I plan to lay low for a few more days---two more days of antibiotics.

Here is a picture of the rug I took last night---these are not regular colors for me  but somehow it works in most every room that I have put it in so I m pleased.

This is the pattern when I started it

this is the pattern last night when I finished hooking

This is the pattern with the edges just folded under

I plan on doing a wool fabric binding and hope to get started today.

Here is a link to the same pattern posted on the Woolley Fox website hooked by Pam Fogle---she did a great job on this pattern and it is always fun to see different interpretations---there are also two others on her website.  You will be able to see some of the changes I made to the pattern.  I wish I had taken a picture of the pattern before I started on it.

I woke up this morning and was turned the TV on and hit on the HSN show.  I did something I have never done---I ordered a handbag---but I went to their website to do it.  I have never purchased anything from any of the shopping networks but I have been in the market for a new handbag and really liked this one---I wanted the grey but it was sold out so ordered the cognac.

Have a great day.

Under the weather

Well my cold never got better---only worse!
Ended up yesterday  in the doctor's office with a full blown sinus infection that was triggering severe migraine-like headaches and took my voice away.  Not fun! Bummed that I can't go to the Vintage market today.

I am looking forward to the Rug Hooker's Christmas Party on the 10th--- I will be well by then!!!

I have done some reverse hooking on the rug I posted the other day---still not done but thought I would share the change.

Sorry the photos are not facing the same way but I think it will show that I lightened the bordering around the center background---to me it looks better because the elements don't seem to be floating.  Also changed some of the colors in the two small center flowers.

Still more tweaking to do but did not feel up to working on it the past two days.

Hubby is out of town diving with his man friends in Mexico while I am here sick in the cold rainy weather.

Time to go lay back down!

Happy Holidays!

Anita

It's official---it's a boy!

I am now the proud expecting grandma to be of a baby boy!  Chelsea and Noah are expecting a little baby boy in June---looks like I will be spending some time in California!

Since I am the mother of two girls, having a little boy in the family will be a new experience---needless to say, my husband, soon to be Bump-Pa, is over the moon!

I see planning a baby rug in my future---I already sent them their first baby gift---check this out.

I found these at the first Friday vintage market in Kansas City last month.

Here are some pictures of what I have been hooking on...I started in in North Carolina...and have been working hard on it in hopes of finishing it in time for our annual Christmas party for my students---don't forget the date---December 10th---hoping for some great weather.

The pattern is called Petals and Posies and is mostly hooked in a #9 cut.  I am still trying to make some decisions about the dark squiggle line around the center background---if I keep it I am going to change parts of the two flowers---I did make a number of small changes to the original pattern---one of which was adding the second flower.  I am also going to get more of the purple on the unhooked right side.

I came down with a cold after Thanksgiving and have been laying a bit low---think I am on the mend---and looking forward to open studio day tomorrow and the First Friday market on Friday.

I also went to a podiatrist yesterday to figure out what wad going on with my bruised foot---which is no longer bruised but has a tender spot on the top---when he says that is "interesting"---it leaves me a little puzzled.  He put a shot of cortizone in it and now it is more sore than it was---it said it could take a couple of days for it to work but that I could run if it doesn't hurt.  So hoping the cold is gone and I can do a run this weekend as the weather is supposed to be nice.

Gobbler Grind---a tough run!

Well I am almost recovered from The Gobbler Grind.  I just got the results this morning that my badly bruised left foot dies not have a stress fracture and should heal with no problems---but it was ugly!!!

Not my best time but not my worst---my buddy kelly---always the cheerleader with a smile on her face---and me with a look of pain---no smile!

I am already tired of the cold weather---Kansas city expecting 1 to 4 inches of the white stuff tomorrow.

Had a busy week with home classes welcoming 4 new students to the rug hooking world---and enjoying catching up with my regulars.  One more week of classes next week and then the end of the year Party---the highlight of the year!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving---be grateful!
